Meet the Artist:

Shelly Broughton

Nearly every piece of artwork you see in Bluebird was created by Shelly Broughton, whose work brings warmth, texture, and character to the shop. A self-taught painter based in upstate New York, Shelly creates from a small garden shed studio tucked at the end of a flower-filled path. It’s the kind of place where art feels destined to bloom.

Today, her pieces carry a sense of home, wonder, and movement with each one quietly inviting you to stop, breathe, and see the beauty in the in-between. Some works feel like a memory surfacing, while others hold a spark of something just beginning. Her work has a way of staying with you, revealing new layers the longer you look. It's not just something to be admired on a wall, but something to be lived with and returned to.

She’s worked in oils for over two decades, recently falling in love with the layered textures and playful freedom of mixed media collage. Before her studio days, Shelly brought color to homes and restaurants across the region through murals and faux finishes. She’s always finding ways to make everyday spaces feel enchanted.
